Cost of Presidency

It appears that not just anyone can become president anymore. Both parties are currently estimating the cost of winning the White House at over $500 million. This means that both parties could conceivably turn down the funds in the Presidential Campaign Fund that taxpayers donate to each year in an effort to garner enough funds to win the campaign.

Denying the monies from this fund could, in effect, overturn one of the main campaign finance reforms from the Watergate era. The fund would still help pay for conventions and candidates who cannot raise the huge sums of money required to run for office. Most candidates refuse money simply because of the restrictions associated with accepting the funds.

The main effect of this news is that candidates will have to increase their yearly revenue raising and continually keep their hands in your pockets. It will also force them to form PACs, or Political Action Committees, to keep them relevant.

Hillary Clinton is the top fund raiser for the Democrats, raising $ 22 million this year, all of which can be directly deposited into her bid for the Presidency. This is the reason Republicans of all stripes need to join the fight and start contributing to their local party and the candidates of their choice. Anything that is necessary to keep the Democratic party from gaining the top leadership position in the world.
