China's Shaolin Monks Go Commercial II I worry that that that the Shaolin Temple will slowly become, as the term Ninja did in Japan, kind of an inside joke for Chinese: In Japan Ninjitsu is not taken seriously by the citizenry as a form of martial arts despite its great mystique still fostered in the west. Many Chinese people are miffed that the Temple has given in to marketing as it signals to some a forsaking of traditional values. There are many fine schools and at which one can study near the Temple and in genuine monasteries located in Dali, China and throughout Yunnan Province and elsewhere. I will see what I can do about creating a credible list of places to learn martial arts while you relax with a Pepsi. --Lonnie Hodge Chinese Asia China Blog Shoalin Monks Lonnie Hodge Guangzhou South China China Blogger News Network is advertiser-supported, and your visits to our advertisers help BNN to meet its expenses.
