Can money make Ban UN Secy General?

Though Ban Ki-Moon enjoys overwhelming majority in the recent straw-poll for the post of UN Secretary General, yet a proverbial sword seems to be hanging on Ban. This is one negative vote - which could be from one of the P5. If that were so and remains so, Ban could very well say goodbye to the Secretary General-ship. As per the rules, the UN Secretary General must enjoy the support of all P5 nations.

Another storm is brewing for the South Korea's foreign minister. The South Korean sudden and overwhelming interest in the African continent could land Ban in trouble. Already there are murmurs in certain quarters that South Korea is bribing their way to the UN top post. Africa has Tanzania and Ghana in the Security Council and most of the Korean largesse has ended up in these two countries.

Now, is this a passing cloud or a real twist in the tale? The picture will become more clear on Monday with another straw poll.
