Breakthrough in weightless surgery The Guardian reports "The experiments will help to develop surgical procedures for astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS), and, further in the future, for longer missions to the moon and Mars." The experimental surgery was reportedly successful. The surgery was performed during a parabolic flight - 25 rollercoaster-like manoeuvres inside a converted Airbus A300 aircraft. Each arc recreates weightlessness for 22 seconds as the plane free-falls to the ground. Doctors worked in intervals of 22 seconds during conditions of weightlessness. And coincidentally, it took 22 intervals to complete the surgery. With this, we are one step closer to transmigrating to space as our destination next!
