Break Out that Old Revolutionary Feeling, One More Time

Castro misses Cuba summit opening

Ah, well, life is just full of these little tragedies; all our favorite world nut-jobs except for Kim Jong Il, gathered together in one fetid little pustule. Well, at least everyone will be spared one of his marathon speeches, and they can feel brave and daring, and cheer each other on as they thwack away at the great dead horse of American Imperialism.

I know, it would absolutely break the old revolutionary’s heart to know that the only people in the US who give a rodent’s posterior about Cuba are few, and fall into a couple of categories:

The Cuban exile community. They hate Castro with an adamantine passion, but let’s face it, most Americans and American immigrants can only keep a good hate going for about a hundred years. Even the Armenians are letting it go. At this rate… eh, about another twenty years.

An assortment of academic and intellectual dim-bulbs with a romantic passion for the revolutionary cause. Normal people who feel this passionately, usually join a re-enactors group or something. This is beneath their dignity, I guess.

The rest of us? Watch my lips: we do not care. We have not cared in decades. The Cuban Revolution is… so early 1960ies, and not in a nice way.

If we cared enough, we’d pull the plug on the blockade, and watch Castro’s little socialist paradise sink under a wave of returning exiles and their money, industry and energy… but, eh… the Cuban exile community is perversely the ones most against it.

Fidel Castro is so far down on our imperial to-do list… somewhere about the level of factories in Guam, or rebuilding the coral reefs, that if it weren’t for the likes of Oliver Stone, we’d hardly think of him….

Oh Look!!! Was that Brittny Spears?

More Here, about the Non-Aligned Movement

I'm sure that was Brittny Spears... or someone!
