Bin Laden possibly dead of typhoid

This AP story raises the possibility that Bin Laden died of typhoid about a month ago in Pakistan. French intelligence officials are reviewing the information to determine if it is true.

Of course this is newsworthy, and no one could blame the AP for reporting it (and the Drudge Report for linking it so prominently), but I think the "where's Osama" line of thinking is much more useful politically than it is practically. Sure, we'd love to catch and press charges against the guy, but the most important thing is defanging him and his Al Qaeda network. That was accomplished almost five years ago.
