Auto Jihad A Columbus, Ohio, auto dealership is about to launch a new advertising campaign that it calls an Auto Jihad. Of course they've crossed the line here. The ad copy for the radio spot uses [shudder, shake] more than one 'forbidden' word. Keith Dennis, owner of Dennis Mitsubishi, starts out the ad by talking about launching a jihad on the automotive market, and that sales reps will wear burqas all weekend. He also goes on to claim that one of the vehicles on sale can seat 12 jihadists in the back. To kick off the 3 day event, Friday will be 'Fatwah Friday', and to get mom and pop into the showroom there will be free rubber swords for the kids. Pricing will be slashed, as in every car commercial, but these prices must be at rock bottom. Dennis claims that his prices are lower than the 'evildoers' every day, and for confirmation suggests that you only have to go and ask the Pope. We'd better tighten up the borders, and lock down New York, because this is sure to incite a worldwide rage again. If any member of Congress happens to be reading this, perhaps some addtional Homeland Security funds for Columbus are also in order. Asma Mobin-Uddin is the president of the local chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations there, and feels that the ad is mocking and disrepectful in many ways. In some ways I can agree with that, but it's also much tamer than what one might see on Saturday Night Live. The Council there in Columbus must be a pretty progressive group though. Asma Mobin-Uddin is a woman. What would the chances of that be in the Middle East? She says that the timing of the ad can only promote discord when so many are dying from the "criminal activities of suicide bombers". Did I read that right? Is that a Muslim leader blaming the suicide bombers, and not US troops? Is there a ray of light in all of this? Back in January of this year I published the cartoon below, and thought I would post it again here. It's not meant to stir things up, but to tell the world to 'lighten up', and also to show that Mr. Dennis' approach could be used in other retail venues. ![]() Technorati Tags: Auto Technorati Tags: Jihad Del.icio.us Tags: Auto Del.icio.us Tags: Jihad Reprinted from Exit 4 Blogger News Network is advertiser-supported, and your visits to our advertisers help BNN to meet its expenses.
