Army Hits Target Recruitment

Despite dire warnings from liberals about the Iraq war and the future of the US military, the US Army is closing out its best recruiting year in nearly a decade. Secretary Francis Harvey expects the 2007 recruiting year to be an equal success.

In an interview with the Associated Press, Harvey said the army will enlist its 80,000th soldier on Friday, hitting its target with 8 days to spare. This is a particulary exciting turnaround from last year where the army missed its target by the widest margin in the two decades.

The high recruit numbers can be attributed to several factors including: making better use of the Internet, new financial incentives, and increasing the entrance age from 35 to 42. The army has high hopes for 2007, partly because they will begin the year with nearly 14% of the target 80,000 already signed up.
