A man who fled to Canada two years ago after coming from a seven month tour of Iraq is coming back to the United States in order to face consequences for his actions. Darrell Anderson was hoping to make a new life for himself in Toronto but after his lawyer missed the deadline to file paperwork for his refugee status, he decided that it was better to return to his home and face whatever was waiting for him. Upon returning home he will report to a special processing unit at Fort Knox for soldiers absent without leave. After his records are reviewed he could face a less than honorable discharge or refer him for a court martial which could result in a dishonorable discharge and prison sentence. "I just decided that I've got to face my demons, put on my uniform, and go back and tell the Army that I don't want to participate in this war," he said. "I feel like I have to tell them face to face. I have to make my stand once and for all."
