Arlen Specter criticizes Senate's short work week

I'm not quite sure what to think about Arlen Specter's latest criticism of the Senate, that "We've fallen into a routine . . . of starting our workweek Tuesday at 2:15 after we finish our caucus luncheons, and people start to get edgy and heading for the airports early on Thursday. So we might increase the workweek by 50 percent, say, to three days."

I don't doubt this is true, but I'm not sure the Senate doing more work (i.e. passing more laws and restricting more freedoms) would be good for America. If Congress operated under John Stossel's proposal that "for every law they pass, they have to repeal two," I could get behind the senator whole-heartedly.
