And This Is Something New? Terror Assessment Released Whatever would we do without experts. As an active-duty member of the US Armed Forces, I was ducking a couple of different strains of Islamic and Palestinian terrorism ever since the Teheran Embassy takeover in 1979, all the time I was overseas. Frankly, I felt about as safe as an American after 9-11, and the WOT, as I did before it. It's the same as it ever was, only now more Americans than just active duty overseas, and State Department employees are aware. More on the NIE release here “Sgt.
