Unemployed still vacationing too much in Germany Native politicians are getting so bold these days that they are actually proposing a stunning Tabubruch (break of taboo) and want to cut vacation entirely for the long-term unemployed this fall. How shocking (not). Cutting vacation for a German is the equivalent of I-CAN’T-BRING-MYSELF-TO-PRINT-THIS-HERE-IT’S-JUST-TOO-HORRIBLE-TO-CONTEMPLATE for other citizens of the world. It’s cruel and inhuman. It’s like Guantanamo or something. But these guys obviously haven’t thought this one through. If a German can’t go on vacation, he has no incentive to work. And if he can’t even go on vacation while he’s unemployed, well, than there’s no point in him being unemployed in the first place. Wait a minute. Maybe they did think this one through.
