Travel in Germany: Anybody seen my suitcase? “If I thought about it really hard in the past, I used to be able to remember where I left the damned thing after about a half an hour or so,” reports Friedrich K. of Berlin. “But jeez, these days that’s just not fast enough, I guess.” It seems that no sooner do these unfortunate daydreamers wander off to get a newspaper or grab a bite to eat at a nearby Burger King, leaving their luggage unattended, than do the mysterious suitcase thieves strike. The police are baffled but are unable to investigate these odd disappearances with the proper care, as a large number of their personnel are currently pulling duty at train stations and airports on the frantic lookout for unattended luggage.
