The Chinese news agency Xinhua reported that the Iranian would launch a large-scale military exercise on Saturday. The news first appeared on Iranian State owned television.

Gen Mohammad Reza Ashtiani, military spokesman said the maneuver will begin in southeastern Iran on Saturday. In addition, Ashtiani said that the maneuver came against a backdrop of tensions in the Mideast, saying "We must be ready to fight against any threat and we should be a role model for other countries.". "The army is prepared to destroy all plots against the Islamic Republic," he added.

US occupation of Iraq and pre-emptive strike on Lebanon by Israelis is damaging the credibility of the Western ideologies of freedom and democracy in the Islamic World . Iranians are enjoying this turmoil in the Middle East to achieve their goals . The War against Hizbollah by Israel has made Iran more popular in the Arab World even though politically Sunnis and Shiites do not see eye to eye. Who is the key beneficiary of the Middle East turmoil-it is Iran.

The French by their big talk(diplomacy) and no action are making the situation worse in the Middle East. The French will not contribute more than 200 troops to UN peace keeping force in Lebanon. This in-fighting among the French and the rest of the free world is only helping the cause of Hizbollah( a proxy for Iran in Lebanon). Hizbollah is doling out cash to all those affected families 15,000 of them while the UN and rest of the World are waiting for the response from the French on troop strength.

In the meanwhile Iran is slowly stepping up its rhetoric and quietly developing its nuclear capability. North Korea is not in the news anymore as the World grabbles with Middle-East situation. Are we truly safe????
