Ukranian Gonchar Wins 7th Stage of Tour de France, Takes Yellow Jersey By VOA Sports 09 July 2006 Ukranian time trial specialist Serguei Gonchar has won the seventh stage of the Tour de France, a 52-kilometer individual time trial around Rennes, and has taken the overall leader's yellow jersey. Gonchar finished the ride in one hour, one minute, 43.6 seconds or 50.54 kilometers per hour. American Floyd Landis was second, one minute and 62/100ths seconds back. German Sebastian Lang was third, (1:04.27 behind the winner). The victory put Gonchar into the overall lead one minute ahead of Landis. Michael Rogers of Australia is third overall, one minute, eight seconds behind Gonchar. Sunday's eighth stage is a 177-kilometer ride through the rolling hills in central Brittany.
