Seven Terror Suspects Escape Saudi Arabian Prison By VOA News 08 July 2006 State-run media in Saudi Arabia say seven terror suspects have escaped from a prison in the Saudi capital, Riyadh. Media reports quote an Interior Ministry statement Saturday as saying the fugitives - six Saudis and a Yemeni - were religious extremists who had been arrested in separate incidents over the past year. The Interior Ministry did not say when the men escaped. Saudi Arabia has been battling a campaign of violence by al-Qaida militants seeking to topple the pro-U.S. monarchy and expel foreigners from the birthplace of Islam. Some information for this report was provided by AP and Reuters. This story originally ran at VOANews.com This story was originally posted here.
