Mumbai Train Serial Blasts - Zero Tolerance and Now ! On June 1st when terrorists struck the RSS headquarters, OffStumped had pointed out that Islamic Terrorism had raised the stakes in the Indian Sub-Contintent and posed the question if the Indian Government had the strategic mindset and tactical tenacity to deal with this ? On June 2nd OffStumped pointed out that drawing false comfort in the Last Line of Defense against Terror being the First Response the Indian Government was placing a rather risky bet and a completely unjustified burden on its last line of defense, the ordinary policeman who puts his life in the line of fire every single day in anticipation of the next terror attack. On June 9th when the U.S. forces in Iraq nailed Zarqawi, OffStumped further highlighted that the Counter Terrorism Strategy in India needs a moral compass that guides it in devising the right offensive tactics to eliminate this new brand of Islamic Terrorism from its roots by taking the battle to its source. On June 12th putting two and two together on the Islamic Vote Bank Mobilization OffStumped cautioned rather premonitiously that by condoning Muslim Fundamentalist violence New Delhi has contributed to the creation of an environment where it is ok to encourage, shelter and patronise those whose loyalties to a Global Islamic cause are stronger than their respect to the Laws of their Motherland. This when combined with the Muslim Criminal elements who have been given a free reign in Governance has created Institutional Safe Havens where Islamic Terrorism can germinate and flourish with no fear of consequences because there are many layers of Secular Cover that they can operate under. All of the above will only receive further boost as these Muslim bodies organize themselves politically thus pushing the so-called secular parties to work overtime in wooing them with rabid minorytism. All of this has portends ominously to the future of internal security in India. So Dr. Manmohan Singh what will it take ? How many more terror attacks before the message gets through ? How many more op-ed columns, street protests and blogs before your Government wakes up to what you have done ? When will you acknowledge that your policies of Minority Appeasement have seriously undermined our internal security. What will it take before your Government realizes how much it has undermined the fabric of our society with your lop-sided focus on divisive issues of Reservations and Minority Appeasement. Now that you have communalized development, repealed POTA, and decided to communalize law enforcement with Communal Riot Laws, why not just give a carte blanche to the terrorist outfits, it will definitely endear your Party to the Minorities and guarantee the next election. No more Dr. Singh, no more. You have time and again failed the critical test of leadership. You have come across as spineless and lacking in resolve to take on politically challenge policies. You have demonstrated the lop-sided priorities of your Government at every critical juncture. You have failed us miserably. There cannot be two ways on this War on Terror. You must either take a George Bush like Zero Tolerance approach from this point or else you must resign without further delay. There is no middle path here. The BJP and Mr. Advani too must make up their minds. Bal Thackeray has demonstrated that Age is no measure of Sagacity or Leadership. Clearly the Shiv Sena rabble rousers have willingly let themselves be provoked by what is clearly a nefarious design of the terrorist elements. By condoning mindless violence and undermining Law Enforcement Bal Thackeray has also contributed to the Terrorist elements being encouraged to carry out their plans with no fear of consequence. The BJP must forthwith snap its ties with Shiv Sena unless the Shiv Sena owns responsibility for the violence by its goons, and gives an unconditional undertaking that at no point will it Politicize Law Enforcement with a Zero Tolerance approach from this point. There is no middle path here. Offstumped Bottomline: Indian economic progress cannot be held hostage to Terror. The time for Empty Political posturing has passed. The time for dubious intellectual posturing about root causes has also passed. The time for silly political correctness in confronting Islamic Terrorism has also passed. Now is the time for action. Now is the time for Zero Tolerance.
