Encouraging child martyrdom: All in a day's work for the Palestinians If you need proof that the Palestinians have the world's most demented society, you need look no further than the above quote. It's from a televised Palestinian "public service announcement" of a few years ago that featured Palestinian child Mohammed al-Dura calling to other children to join him in a shaheed heaven for children. What does "shaheed" mean? It means martyr, and in this case, of the cute and cuddly variety. Mohammed al-Dura, by the way, is the child who was supposedly shot dead in a crossfire between Israelis and Palestinians and was conveniently captured on video for the whole world to see. I say supposedly because the whole thing turned out to have been staged by Palestinian propagandists. Surprise! Anyway, the public service announcement was taken off the Palestinian airwaves three years ago in the face of massive controversy. Well, guess what? It's b-a-a-c-k, not necessarily by popular demand, but because the Palestinian Authority has once again, in its demented desperation, decided that there needs to be a new campaign designed to influence the behavior of young children and to encourage them to seek death as whippersnapper shaheeds. According to Palestinian Media Watch, the 2000-2003 television campaign to recruit young children was so effective that 70 to 80 percent of Palestinian children during that time wanted to die as shaheeds, according to three separate polls. That kind of success rate in influencing the attitudes of children is enough to make Madison Avenue green with envy, but we're not talking about sugary breakfast cereals here. I guess if you're one of the countless millions of inflexible Muslim fanatics from every corner of the globe whose main obsession in life is the hatred of the tiny country of Israel, these public encouragements of child suicide bombings must give you a warm and fuzzy feeling inside. Everyone else on earth, however, is easily able to see it for what it really is: one of history's ultimate moral depravities. Here's the real public service announcement that needs to saturate the Palestinian airwaves: There is no heaven for moppet martyrs, or any other martyrs for that matter. And if the Palestinians don't find a way to change their perverse way of thinking, there will only be depravity and hell on earth for their children and their children's children and on and on. So get a clue, already. Greg Strange provides conservative commentary with plenty of acerbic wit on the people, politics, events and absurdities of our time.
