If it is ready to publish,change the {{develop}} tag to {{publish}} and it will appear on the Main Page Israeli helicopters continued to pound Beirut's southern suburbs on the fifth day of the offensive on Lebanon. The airstrikes which killed 35 people including 15 children were meant to punish the Lebanese government for failing to disarm the resistance group Hezbollah. Israel has stated that it aims to not only secure the release of it's captured soldiers, but also to destroy Hezbollah's ability to fire rockets in Israel. Airstrikes early this morning damaged a flyover linking the souther suburb with the eastern part of Beirut, Israeli tanks and armoured personnel carriers, backed by helicopter gunships, moved into Beit Hanoun an area used by resistance fighters for launching rockets.
