U.S. Flag makes endangered species list

The U.S. flag made the endangered species this week, as the Senate narrowly rejected an amendment to the Constitution that would prohibit desecration of the flag.

It's not because too many people are burning flags however, that it made the list. It is because the Senators are so close to destroying one of the things the flag stands for - freedom. On another note, the Constitution is again under duress as lawmakers attempt to use it to limit what people can do, rather than what government can do.

They needed just one more vote. Sixty-six Senators voted for the amendment. What happened to the Democrats?

Interestingly, if the proposed amendment were to pass, the Senators who voted for it would be the first one's to [defecate] on the flag. How ironic. And sorry, you'll have to excuse the language. The thought of them doing something so vile [angers me beyond belief].

Now I don't know if enough state legislatures would adopt the amendment to make it law, but my guess is "yes" and I'd rather not take the chance even if it were "no."

Proponents say they want to honor the troops and veterans who fight for the flag. What better way to honor them than by restricting the very thing they fight for! Why not give them a pay raise or use your power to make some real problem worse than it is?

What these Senators are doing is absurd. They may as well soak the flag in lighter fluid and use it as fuel for their barbecue pits this Independence Day.
