This rendition is truly extraordinary First the BND didn’t know anything about the CIA’s extraordinary rendition of German citizen Khaled el-Masri. Then the former German government (on duty) didn’t know anything about it, either. Now the current government doesn’t know anything about it erst recht (knows even less) even though the SPD, the party that led the previous government and is now part of the current one, still knows good and damned well what it didn’t know before. Then come the Greens who were also part of the previous government and didn’t know anything but aren’t in the current one and would therefore like to now know just what it was exactly that they didn’t know back then. And then come the FDP and the lunatic fringe cartoon figures on the left who are in the opposition and therefore paid not to know anything but are just dying to know how little it is anyway because this is like a total political freebie for them and we’re sooo excited. And now it’s come out that the BND not only didn’t know anything, it knew this a full sixteen months before not having known it knew. I mean, if one were of a suspicious nature, one could start getting, well, suspicious here. After all, it’s not like European governments would ever knowingly abet the EVIL American government in the kidnapping of potential terrorism suspects in the vain attempt to actually try and do something about preventing the next catastrophic terrorist attack. Oder (or would they)? Someone could possibly-maybe-conceivably make a mistake here and that would be a breach of the European Convention on Human Rights by Europeans right here on European soil in Europe. And that just wouldn’t fly and has certainly never happened before because we’re Europeans. And if this keeps up much longer I'm going to have an extrajudicial seizure or something. It’s better not to know anything now than to have never not known anything at all, I always say. Come visit me at Observing Hermann...
