Raw Audio starts Australia's first regular live webcast
June 7, 2006
The webcast, which will be broadcast every Sunday at 8pm (Brisbane time), will feature a selection of South-East Queensland's bands and musicians, and the occasional overseas and interstate guest. The artists, who will come from a variety of music genres, will play an acoustic set from the comfort of their own sofa, surrounded by their family and friends. Past webcasts done by Raw Audio have been fun affairs, complete with great music and also interference from friends, pets and even door-to-door salesmen! The Sunday Sofa Sessions will undoubtedly bring the same level entertainment, of both the expected and unexpected variety. Viewers will also be able to write to the artist during the gig via a live webchat. After the gig, viewers can then talk or video chat personally with the artist. The inaugural Sunday Sofa Session on June 11 will feature local Blues and Roots legend Asa Broomhall (www.asabroomhall.com). Asa has performed at clubs, concerts and festivals all over Australia, the UK and North America, including [info to come from Asa] Founder of Raw Audio, Thom Perkins said: "Raw Audio is all about presenting artists with new and unique ways of getting their music heard, and The Sunday Sofa Sessions represent our latest effort". The Sunday Sofa Sessions allows our artists to be experienced live from not only anywhere in Australia, but also overseas. We're anticipating a regular international audience of up to 10,000 viewers," he said. Since its launch in January, Raw Audio has generated interest all over the globe and music from Brisbane and surrounds has been experienced in USA, UK, China, Brazil and India through its unique online Radio and online TV. Raw Audio also runs its own version of MySpace directly on the site, which allows local musicians and industry to network and develop new methods of music promotion and distribution.
