Icelandic PM Ásgrímsson resigns June 13, 2006 The Icelandic Prime Minister, Halld�r �sgr�msson, announced his resignation on June 5 after the governing Progress Party suffered losses in recent local elections. �sgr�msson's successor will be Minister of Foreign Affairs Geir Haarde. Haarde is leader of �sgr�msson's coalition partner, the conservative Independence Party. Sources
