Heavy Rains Continue in Northeastern United States By VOA News 27 June 2006 Heavy rain continues to fall in parts of the northeastern United States, following deluges that flooded roads, knocked out power and forced offices to close. Forecasters warn of additional flooding throughout the region, including Washington, and the states of Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania and New York. Monday, flood waters stranded motorists in Washington and caused major delays for commuters in the capital and beyond. The severe weather also toppled an historic elm tree at the White House.
