What the LeT Terrorist Attack on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh RSS Headquarters means ? The Terrorist Attack however raises multiple troubling questions. First and foremost amongst them being how Islamic Terrorist modules have been able to operate freely in the Indian state of Maharashtra in recent months. Ironically the Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil hails from Maharashtra. The second troubling question is the lack of seriousness of the UPA Government in tackling Terrorism. Shivraj Patil has been the least inspiring of Home Ministers in recent times with a deputy in Prakash Jaiswal who is all the more willing to court political controversy. One is yet to see a serious policy position backed by an action plan to tackle the spread of Islamic Terrorism beyond Jammu and Kashmir. The third troubling question is the motive of the Islamic Terrorist modules and their political masters across in Pakistan. By choosing highly provocative targets like Varnasi and now the RSS Headquarters the Islamic Terrorist organizations have revealed glimpses of what clearly appears to be a larger plan at work and one can only speculate a possible Al-Qaeda connection to all this. For the attack on the Sangh Headquarters can barely be justified by the Jammu & Kashmir cause. If anything is attack has only further weakened the case for militancy in Jammu and Kashmir. What this clearly means the goals and the endgame of the Islamic Terrorist organizations operating out of Pakistan have changed. They no longer care about achieving anything in Kashmir. They have set their sights on an end game which is far more sinister aimed at de-stabilising Indian Democracy and the Indian Economy while sharpening the public debate along Hindu Nationalists versus Islamic Terrorists. The fourth troubling question is what if the goals and the end-game are not being dictated by the Pakistani establishment but by Al-Qaeda elements who have already gone on record with their objectives in Pakistan. The dreaded what-if scenario for the Indian Sub-continent would be a de-stabilizing terrorist attack on a target like the RSS coupled with a possible assassination of Musharraff. Is this the end game which these terrorists with their new found boldness are attempting ? All of this raises the question to the Indian Government lead by Dr. Manmohan Singh - What Strategic Options exist to counter this new game plan to which the Islamic Terrorists are now playing. The Indian News Media reporting of the event also has left much to be desired. With Headlines like "LeT Rebels killed" media outlets like NDTV have made a mockery of the effort of the security forces. Indian News Media Outlets need to learn to call Terrorists Terrorists. By using ambiguous phrases like Rebels the media outlets are lending an air of credibility to what are clearly Terrorist elements. This lack of intellectual and moral clarity in the Indian News Media when incidents like this occur, reflects the extent to which the left of center mindset has softened attitudes towards Terrorism. -- OffStumped For All Things Right of Center, Bringing a Right of Centre Reality Check to Indian Politics, News Media Reporting and Opinion through Blogs and Podcasts. -- Blogger News Network is advertiser-supported, and your visits to our advertisers help BNN to meet its expenses.
