Recovery Operations Continue at Helicopter Crash Site American Forces Press Service BAGRAM AIR BASE, Afghanistan, May 7, 2006 - Recovery operations resumed today at the site of a U.S. CH-47 Chinook helicopter crash in Afghanistan's Kunar province that claimed 10 soldiers' lives, military officials reported. The aircraft fell into a ravine. The cause of the crash is under investigation, and an investigative team is on the scene. Officials have ruled out enemy action as a possible cause. The soldiers' names are being withheld until next-of-kin notification is complete, officials said. (From a Combined Forces Command Afghanistan news release.)
