Football: Morocco Beats US in World Cup Warmup By VOA News 24 May 2006 Morocco has scored a 1-0 victory to dampen a World Cup warmup for the U.S. men's national football (soccer) team in Nashville, Tennessee. Subsitute Mohamed Madihi scored in the 90th minute Tuesday. The U.S. defense got caught in the Moroccan end of the field, leaving Madihi wide open for an easy goal. Worse than the loss for the Americans was an injury to captain Claudio Reyna. He hobbled off the field with a strained right hamstring. The extent of his injury was not immediately known. Morocco, one of Africa's stronger teams, did not qualify for the 32-nation World Cup field. The fifth-ranked United States faces Venezuela on Friday and Latvia on Sunday, two more teams that did not qualify for the World Cup.
