TEACHING IN GUANGZHOU: THE CHINGLISH SYNDROME I rarely make fun of Chinglish; primarily, I avoid chiding people because I speak fluent CSL: Chinglish as a Second Language. I do have to laugh when I read TEFL, and TESOL China recruitment ads placed by top schools in search of English teachers. I also become leary of the school: This should be your FIRST clue to stay away! If they did not consult the ESL teachers at their school about something as simple as an ad then they are not likely to hold foreign opinions in high regard when it comes to what to teach or how to teach it. Here is part an ad from a school that has, literally, more than a score of English teachers. Do you have any others you would like to share? I can't wait to get to a place that is nothing more than a gathering place for local villagers and poultry dismissed from MacDonald and KFC.
