Russia & China Forcing Regime Change In Iran?

It's becoming increasingly clear that both Russia and China have decided not to get tough with Iran due to their own selfish interests. Both are unwilling to suggest serious sanctions of any kind, diplomatic or economic and they even avoid using harsh language to condemn Iran and their clandestine nuclear program.

Ironically, by doing so they may be forcing a regime change in Iran, courtesy of George W. Bush. Let's face it. The United States is not going to tolerate a radical Islamic regime in Iran that has nuclear weapons in its arsenal. It's simply not going to happen.

Thus far the U.S. has been taking the diplomatic route, but this path will be exhausted much sooner than it should be, as there are few options left other than tactical strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities or even regime change. All because of the reluctance of both Russia and China to get serious with Tehran.

If the Russians and Chinese truly want to avoid conflict, the best thing they can do is support the U.S. effort to bring about harsh sanctions on the Iranians if they don't comply and stop enriching uranium. Otherwise the Bush administration's hands will be tied and they will be forced to take a much tougher stance, much sooner than would otherwise be necessary.

Personally, I hope things continue as they are, because I see no point in all this "pussy footing" around with Iran. I prefer a much more direct approach and if Iran doesn't comply soon, the U.S. should do what needs to be done whether anyone else agrees with us or not.

Lastly, this may be the last chance for the United Nations to prove that it can be relevant in crisis situations. If the United Nations can't respond during times like these, then what purpose does it serve?

Dear Reaganite and the like,
You wish the world would be this simple! In this game of chess, unfortunatley the US and the West has put themslef in a check mate situation. There is no way out without both side loosing all of their pieces before one side giving in. I can tell you that the West's pieces are far more valuable to the west than the Iranian pieces to the Iranians. They are used to not having, while in this case the West will need to get used to not having the oil or not having the money to pay for it. The onset of any attack on Iran would promise $5.50-6. per gallon of gas, unempolyment of %12-15 in most industrialized nations and better yet an inflation rate of %10-12 for years to come. This would mark the begining of the end of the Western civilization as we know it today. India, China and Japan would a force to recken with. Any attack on Iran would expedite a more ballanced world. The Us would loose the opportunity to become a Great and sustainable power and would go down in the history as a short lived Big Power.

To anthony brere: First of all, thank-you for your comments. Secondly......I think you underestimate the economic power of the Unites States. If keeping nuclear weapons out of the hands of a radical Islamic regime gives the U.S. consumer $6.00 per gallon gas prices, then so be it. It's the price that we'll have to pay.

What would be the price of an Iranian regime that already sponsors and supports terrorism having nuclear weapons in it's arsenal? The price of that possibility far outweighs $6.00 per gallon gasoline prices, inflation and unemployment. It's a price that we and the rest of the world can NOT pay.

The strength of the American economy? Surely, you jest.

Your budget and trade deficits are so far beyond obscene that it boggles the mind. The only reason you aren't an afterthought is that China and the Middle East oil money is coming back to you as they buy US government bonds...the instant China and the middle east STOP recycling your out-go back to you , it's ballgame over.

I GUARANTEE you if you attack Iran the Middle East FOR SURE and China probably will cease to recycle their US Dollars back to you. Once that happens, end of ball game.

The US either gets rid of the insanity of the neo-cons or the world washes it's hands of the US.

Your choice. AND, I bet you're insane enough to think, "Well the Hell with them."

Americans HAVE to take back their country from your insanity. While they still have a country to take back. Have a good day.
