Nobody in Germany is sure if Ahmadinedschad is welcome or not

Native meteorologists and scientists and a wide variety of other interested parties were taken completely off guard as a raging electromagnetic storm of mixed signals crossed over the Berliner Regierungsviertel (government quarter) yesterday. The controversial Holocaust-denier and Israel-should-wiped-off-the-face-of-the-earth-talkin Iranian President Ahmadinedschad is apparently considering a visit to the World Cup this summer (to be held in Germany) and native politicians are falling all over themselves in a desperate attempt to show the rest of the world that they don’t know how to react to this.

Whereas Interior Minister Wolfgang Schäuble seems more concerned about being a good host than possibly hurting the feelings of one of today’s most bizarre political characters and has nothing against any foreign head of state’s visit “in principle”, SPD politician Dieter Wiefelspütz welcomes the visit outright. Bavaria’s Edmond Stoiber, on the other hand, has declared the Iranian President to be a persona non grata. Chancellor Merkel has also taken a tougher stand on Ahmadinedschad in the recent past, but has not commented on any of this yet.

At least all involved seem open to the possibility of actually “addressing statements” Ahmadinedschad has made in the past and it is even likely that “difficult questions” may also be asked, too. You know, like the kind Günther Jauch asks on the “Who wants to be a millionaire?” show.

I know, how about: Name the top three concentration camps of Eastern Europe during World War II. Or maybe: How much plutonium is necessary to build a nuclear warhead?
