Nobody in Germany is sure if Ahmadinedschad is welcome or not Whereas Interior Minister Wolfgang Schäuble seems more concerned about being a good host than possibly hurting the feelings of one of today’s most bizarre political characters and has nothing against any foreign head of state’s visit “in principle”, SPD politician Dieter Wiefelspütz welcomes the visit outright. Bavaria’s Edmond Stoiber, on the other hand, has declared the Iranian President to be a persona non grata. Chancellor Merkel has also taken a tougher stand on Ahmadinedschad in the recent past, but has not commented on any of this yet. At least all involved seem open to the possibility of actually “addressing statements” Ahmadinedschad has made in the past and it is even likely that “difficult questions” may also be asked, too. You know, like the kind Günther Jauch asks on the “Who wants to be a millionaire?” show. I know, how about: Name the top three concentration camps of Eastern Europe during World War II.
