The New Civil Rights Movement? Arizona Rep. J.D. Hayworth in a recent interview with Westwood One radio host Monica Crowley, said that the new demonstrations are "totally different." Back then, he said: "United States citizens were lawfully petitioning their government and assembling for the redress of grievances - specifically that lawful, legal citizens were denied their rights because of the color of their skin." "What you have at these new demonstrations are non-citizens asking for special rights". Ole J.D. has hit the nail square on the head this time. It's ludicrous to compare the demonstrations of the past few weeks with those of the civil rights movement. I don't know about you, but I was incensed when I saw all those Mexican flags being carried during these demonstrations. In my opinion, that didn't help their case at all with most Americans. Hayworth took note of it also, telling Crowley, "When you see the Mexican flags and other flags - rather than American flags - being hoisted at these demonstrations, you essentially are getting this message: 'Yes, we are here illegally. No, we do not believe this to be your country. We do not believe in your laws . . . and we don't believe you're going to do anything about it.'" Well, it's time something is done about it. As much as I'd like to see all illegals rounded up and deported and forced to get in line like everyone else, that's not going to happen. The problem is simply too big and has been allowed to go virtually unchecked for decades. This will be the third time that we've tried to address the problem. Once in the 1960's, and again in the mid-80's under Reagan. Both were total abject failures. Let's get it right this time. We can't afford to keep getting it wrong. The time has come for leadership and solutions to this problem. You might wonder who's the understanding employer that lets his employees time off to protest. How close were the lettuce fields and the farms that have special dispensation for employing migrant(politically correct) or illegal (deemed racist, insensitive, stereotypical) workers. There aren't many farms close to Dallas, Washington D.C. or for that matter Chicago. Did'nt see many protests in the lettuce fields but I did see them in the major metropolises waving the Mexican tri-color and not the stars and stripes. I find that personally insulting. I also find it insulting that the hispanic population is classified as white for census and criminal statistical purposes because the issue is too sensitive to differentiate according the the information posted by our government. You're only hispanic if your in jail, report a hate crime or looking for preferential status to bid for contract work as a MWBE. Then you get statistical goals established suppossedly to prevent discrimination. Let's face it, it is a good day to be an illegal alien. Swim a river, spread your legs, drop a pup and the adventure begins. The kid is born in a hospital at tax payer expense, he is sent to school because we don't want to discriminate and all of this is picked up by the local government. If you don't think the school is up to snuff that the child attends P&M and we'll rob and degrade another school to establish equality. It is one thing to embody what this country stands for and the sacrifices it has taken to make this country great, but it is quite another to wave an alien flag and demand acceptance when their allegience is obviously to a country other than the United States. I can't help but think what Crockett, Bowie and Travis would say at the sights seen today.
