Mysterious committee to begin investigating mysterious activities today It’s still a mystery as to whether the 25% of Bundestag representatives needed to okay the committee will vote for it this morning or not, however. But when they do (and they will), highly dramatic and politically explosive high drama will explode upon the German political scene, the likes of which has never been seen here ever before except three or four dozen times over the past few years I think but it’s hard to say for sure because it’s all rather boring and it doesn’t really seem all that mysterious to me so I forget easily. And this too is a mystery. One would think that even the natives themselves would have had enough of this kind of stuff by now. But they obviously haven’t. The basis of the investigation will be a catalogue of 30 mysterious issues which will undoubtedly be handled in an unbelievably tüchtige (efficient) and gründliche (thorough) and ausführliche (detailed) and zeitraubende (time-consuming) and nervtötende (nerve-killing) and anything-but-mysterious manner. But it will come down to this: After determining that the BND did not help the USA target some of its bombing raids in Bagdad (which their colleagues have already established for them), the committee will then determine that the CIA did in fact kidnap whats-his-name (which their colleagues have already established for them), too. Am I going to fast? And then, after weeks or months or years (if they’re really good), anything concerning these matters and having the slightest bit to do with mystery will have been explained away off the face of the earth and the investigative committee will then mysteriously disappear, just like it came. Out of nowhere, sort of. You know, as in thin air. Kind of creepy, isn’t it? Come and visit me at Observing Hermann...
