Germany's Oskar Lafontaine to straighten things up in Iran He apparently had a vision the other night while dosing off from boredom at one of those tedious Linke-WASG-PDS-whatever-they’re-called-this-week (the way left Party) rallies and suddenly realized that he could save the world. Again, I mean. He now hopes to have a word with Dingsda (what’s his name) with the beard down there in Iran and peace negotiate the pants off him, figuratively speaking. And he’s just the guy to do it, too. Few personalities in modern German politics have such a proven track record when it comes to cleverness in politics. He will obviously be “explaining” to him that as far as he is concerned, the mullahs can have all the atomic weapons they want just as long as they also come out openly and, gulp, say that they want peace, too. And keep hating the USA, of course. He knows that this will be tough, but is nonetheless confident that these are demands Teheran will eventually have to knuckle under to. A timetable for his visit has not been set yet, but it certainly won’t be before this Thursday when his Linksfaktion (Left Faction) will be presenting a resolution in the Bundestag against the military action in Iran which hasn’t taken place yet and most likely won’t.
