DHS Press Secretary Arrested on Child Seduction Charges

Maybe he thought she was older ... and hey, he worked in public affairs, after all ...

The Department of Homeland Security's Deputy Press Secretary, the fourth-ranking official in the department's public affairs office, was arrested Tuesday for trying to seduce what he believed to be a 14-year old girl on the Internet. The "girl" was actually an undercover Polk County Sheriff's Computer Crimes Detective.

Brian J. Doyle, 55, was arrested at his residence in Maryland on charges of use of a computer to seduce a child and transmission of harmful material to a minor. The charges were issued out of Polk County, Florida. Doyle is being held in Maryland, but will be extradited to Florida to face the charges. He will be placed on administrative leave from his job Wednesday morning.

Doyle sent the "girl" pornographic movie clips and had sexually explicit conversations via the Internet. During online conversations, Doyle not only sent the "girl" photos of himself (which were not sexual in nature), he also revealed his name, disclosed that he worked for the Homeland Security Department and offered both his office and government issued cell phone numbers. On several occasions, Einstein Doyle instructed the "girl" to perform sexual acts while thinking of him and described explicit activities he wanted to have with her.
Doyle later had a telephone conversation with an undercover deputy posing as the teenager and encouraged her to purchase a web camera to send graphic images of herself to him.
No, he absolutely should not have been talking dirty to her and sending her pornography over the Internet, or trying to talk her into sending him naughty pictures of herself. (I'm assuming that was the goal of the WebCam.) At the same time, though, it's not like he was arrested while trying to actually meet this "girl."

Hope they've got him on suicide watch. [FOX]
