Who says the Europeans don’t have vision? It’s actually been clinically proven somewhere I think that the human brain and other vital organs can only endure just so much visionary entertainment but the folks at Eurovision haven’t been told this yet and keep pushing the limit to new unbearable heights every year - or lows, if you prefer. But this is coming from someone who openly and honestly doesn’t get it. If I could explain Eurovision to you I would but I can’t so I won’t. I just read (the words) that it is an annually televised song contest with participants from numerous countries and the it is broadcast live on television via satellite link throughout Europe and that it’s also a very democratic process in that the “televoters” vote for their favorite live performers (they can’t vote for their own country, however) and then the masters of ceremony from each and every country involved and a few that are not announce the results country by country by country for about what seems to be three or four days and then the country that wins, well, wins and as punishment has to host the damned thing next year on their own territory. But that doesn’t really give you an idea about what Eurovision actually is. And there are too many conflicting ideas out there about it to help clarify matters. Some say it is high drama. Some say it’s a farce. Others would beat you up for saying that and wait all year long just to watch it. There’s a lot of team spirit herd instinct stuff mixed up in here, too. You know, our amateur entertainer exhibitionists are better then yours. At any rate, it’s coming in early May and no known force in the universe can stop it. I have decided to vote for Malta this year. I don’t know why yet but this is a friggin democracy pal and I can vote for whoever I damn well choose. Come visit me at Observing Hermann...
