What, No Virgins? Sure, it's a lot of money, but what about the 72 virgins? In addition to the one hundred kilos of gold being offered by the Taliban for the death of the cartoonists who 'slandered' Muhammad ...Mohammed Yousaf Qureshi, prayer leader at the historic Mohabat Khan mosque in the conservative northwestern city of Peshawar, announced the mosque and the Jamia Ashrafia religious school he leads would give a $25,000 reward and a car for killing the cartoonist who drew the prophet caricatures - considered blasphemous by Muslims. Not only are they largely unaware that there are multiple artists, most of them haven't even seen the cartoons to decide whether or not they're offensive -- the fact of the matter is that their religion forbids even a complimentary portrayal of Muhammad. You can't draw him, no matter how you present him. People were stunned when they put a bounty on the head of Salman Rushdie -- did you know there's still three million to be had for offing him? -- and the poor man had to go into hiding for having written "The Satanic Verses." What if these cartoons were of Jesus? Can you imagine the reaction from the world at large if Christians suddenly began offering bounties for the death of artists who had "defiled" Jesus by drawing His image?
