US newspapers should not print Mohammed cartoons, but not for the reasons you might think

While the Islamic world’s reaction to the Danish cartoons is a necessary wake-up call for Europe, and while I support those European papers who reprinted them in defiance of islamofascist intolerance, US papers should not print the cartoons.

It is not because we should fear a Muslim uprising in the US or boycotts of our products or attacks on embassies. Instead it is because 1) we should not at this time provoke the citizens of Iraq and Afghanistan whose cooperation (or at least neutrality) our soldiers desperately need at this time, and 2) we should not lessen the heat on the Europeans by attracting some of it to ourselves lest the appeasement-prone continent once again loses its resolve in the face of this most dangerous enemy.

So, while I like the idea of printing the cartoons to show "solidarity" with the European papers brave enough to print them, that is not enough benefit for the US to justify the negative ramifications for our troops and for finally getting the Europeans to realize that this is indeed World War IV.

You appear to be someone whose approach to world affairs can only be described as adolescent. Either that are you are living in a fantasy world. It’s Cringe making stuff that I have forwarded to others for a giggle. It’s no wonder they laughs at Americans.
