Uncovering the Truth About Homosexuals Covering

On the morning of February 15, 2006 the popular show Washington Journal on C-Span had homosexual activist and lawyer , Kenji Yoshino, on as a guest discussing his new book Covering: The Hidden Assault On Our Civil Rights.

Yoshino was on to promote his theory about why homosexuals are still “covering” for themselves and not living out and proud and flaunting their homosexuality as activists or proud homosexuals. He started his presentation by discussing how in the first generation of promoting homosexuality those who were homosexuals were told that they had to have a conversion experience. He then only presented partial truth about this issue. Here’s what he said, (watch the clip)

“The first generation was conversion, which was you have to become straight. In the middle of the 20th century there are all of these horrific procedures, including lobotomy, electroshock therapy, even castration to force gay people to become straight.”

The troubling thing about this type of presentation is that Mr. Yoshino has failed to present the whole truth concerning “conversion” therapy. Talk therapy has not only been around in the 20th century, but has also been very successful in helping those with same sex attraction understand those attractions and leave those behaviors behind. Nowhere in his presentation did Mr. Yoshino even allude to the fact that people can change and live normally as heterosexuals. His premise was clearly the lie that one is born gay, and not that environmental factors such as lack of attachment, abuse or societal pressure contributes to homosexual tendencies.

Trying to appear tolerant and inclusive in his presentation, it was very interesting to note how Yoshino didn’t answer directly a question about Christian bashing and the bigotry that often comes from the gay community towards Christians. Instead of directly answering the question from the caller Yoshino discussed how he believed homosexuals and “religionists” have suffered discrimination in similar ways. He not only dismissed the question being asked, but deliberately denied the truth that the caller made about homosexuals persecuting Christians for their beliefs about homosexuality. A cursory examination of Yoshino’s website explains why he didn’t answer the callers question about homosexuals who bash Christians. First, Christianity is a major religion and not a minority one. This explains why he uses the term “religionists”. So when Yoshino talks about religion he refers to the cult of Mormonism, the Jewish religion and Islam, not Christianity. This is stunning considering the whole premise of his book and the reason he was on C-Span was to promote cultural dialogue about who we are as people and how one can live in an authentic way.

It is sad to say and see C-Span give a platform to a man who clearly has an agenda to promote the lie of homosexuality to the public without having a guest with an opposing viewpoint on at the same time. This book is just another book that is masquerading as a book about tolerance, when in reality it is presenting half truths and a lifestyle that eventually leads to death. Even some reviews written on the Amazon website for his book were written primarily by friends and students of Mr. Yoshino, which begs the question – is this book required reading in his law classes at Yale, and if so, does he require and present other materials that have an opposing view.

And if one is so secure in their homosexuality why is it so important for society to embrace that homosexual security? Why can’t that person just live their lives authentically without changing society? My guess is that no homosexual is really truly happy with their same sex attraction and choice to act out sexually with a person of the same sex – which is why the first reaction a homosexual person has is to convert to heterosexuality. The reason is simple and clear, they are heterosexual, because that is how our Creator makes every person. And the only reason one has to “cover” who they are is because it goes against the way nature created them. Remember when Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden fruit and their eyes were opened? The first thing they did was hid themselves. It's really that simple, when you aren't walking as you were intended, you hide and cover yourself, and changing society will never change the conscience of the man or woman who deviates from the way God created them, naturally heterosexually.

Do you have any data to support that statment?

How successful has it been?

Scott,

After reviewing your websites, I'm pretty confident that your questions aren't serious and that any answer I give you'll dismiss. That said, here's your answer because I know others will read this :)

Dr. Warren Throckmorton has done extensive research on this issue, as have organizations like Exodus International. And there are a lot more where this came from, but I'm guessing, you'll poo poo this because you don't like the source.

Actually, I'm looking for scientific, peer reviewed, published data concerning the success rate of former homosexuals.

If Nicolosi and Throckmorton would submit to peer review, I would gladly review the data.

You are a marriage therapist, I am sure you know the importance of valid data.

So is there any?
