MOURNING FOR A BREAST ![]() This poster was banned in Hong Kong! It is for an upcoming movie based on the book Mourning for a Breast a black comedy about breast cancer. The only thing offensive is Hong Kong's refusal to allow this poster on public transportation. This is a city in dire need of a little humor about breast cancer and a LOT more openess: Hong Kong has the highest women's cancer rate in China. There has been a 40% increase in annual deaths in the last decade. THAT is obscene. "Mourning for Breasts" is due for release on March 2nd and I hope the whole of South China goes to see it. I hope it makes it to a foreign film venue near you. The lead actress Miriam Yeung was outraged that people might construe the poster to mean the movie has pornographic content. She hoped it would promote women’s public health. The film is the story of a white-collar woman suffering from breast cancer. Even before its release it has garnered high praise from viewer groups and the State Administration of Radio, Film and TV. And Ms. Yue would approve: MS YUE China asia Blogging China Blogs China Blog Cancer Treatment Cancer Breast Cancer Movie Reviews Censorship Mourning for a Breast Breast Cancer Lonnie blogs at: Onemanbandwith Blogger News Network is advertiser-supported, and your visits to our advertisers help BNN to meet its expenses.
