Easter Buns Under Fire Again  This time Jehovah's Witnesses have been wheeled out to justify the ban. Makes a change off Wiccans and the ever-reliable Muslims, I suppose. "The UK’s mania for political correctness has struck again where a school has banned hot cross buns, a traditional sweet pastry associated with Good Friday. A representative of Oaks Primary School in Ipswich, said the buns, which include two strips of decorative icing intersecting in the middle, might offend Jehovah’s Witnesses who attend the school." There are plenty of existing JWs who have murdered, molested children, watched pornography, beat their wives, consumed alcohol excessively, smoked dope, etc., under the radar. Seems the organization might do better to worry about these folks rather than hot cross buns!

I don't recall the original new story saying that Jehovah's Witnesses had insisted upon the ban. In fact, as I recall the news item it said that the school had taken the decision to remove hot cross buns and the local representative of Jehovah's Witnesses was only approached for his comment after the decision had already been made. As for your other comments ... the same allegations have been rebutted so many times on the internet that I really can't be bothered to do it again. Those who seek the truth will find it. Jehovah blesses truth seekers.
When does political correctness end and common sense begin?
Danny Haszard's & brendalee's comments are pretty much on point...I have nothing further to add other than do your homework before joining any religious group! Thank goodness the Internet has made truthful information available.

Jehovah's Witnesses had ZERO membership growth in America and Canada last year. No wonder no one wishes to join, imagine never again eating a delicious HOT CROSS BUN.

I have Jehovah's Witnesses family in the usa who practice the Watchtower JW enforced ritual shunning that i have not seen or heard from in 15 years.
The central CORE dogma of the Watchtower is Jesus second coming (invisibly) in 1914 and is a lie.Jehovah's Witnesses are a spin-off of the man made Millerite movement of 1840.
A destructive cult of false teachings, that frequently result in spiritual and psychological abuse, as well as needless deaths (bogus blood transfusion ban).
Yes,you can 'check out anytime you want but you can never leave',because they can and will hold your family hostage.
The world has the Internet now,and there are tens of thousands of pages up from disgruntled ex-Jehovah's Witnesses like myself who have been abused by the Watchtower cult.
Jehovah's Witnesses are often a mouth that prays a hand that kills.The Watchtower is a truly Orwellian world.

Jehovah's Witnesses would never interfere with anyone's decision to eat a hot cross bun or a crescent roll or a star-of-david cookie or even a blood sausage. Have you ever seen Witnesses protest an abortion clinic or an execution or ANYTHING? They are neutral to all national, political, and social controversy.
