Censoring News By Leaving Out The Details

One thing I've been noticing is that when decribing the cartoons, the media always seem to focus on this one: "One cartoon depicts Mohammed wearing a turban shaped as a bomb with an ignited detonator string" (see CNN). Why not describe the one calling the newspaper a provocateur?

It gets worse when you compound it with this, from the same CNN article (a disclaimer at the end):

CNN is not showing the negative caricatures of the likeness of the Prophet Mohammed because the network believes its role is to cover the events surrounding the publication of the cartoons while not unnecessarily adding fuel to the controversy itself.

That's certainly a diplomatic way of saying "we're piss scared."

By concentrating their description of the cartoons on by far the most offensive one, it's impossible to put the events in the proper perspective. CNN (and others) are doing a great job in misrepresenting what is going on, and helping to excuse away the violence in people's minds.
