Pray for Haleigh Poutre But wait. Now, according to a DSS spokesperson Denise Monteiro: ''The vegetative state may not be a total vegetative state." Haleigh is breathing without a respirator that she had been on for four months and her doctors have gotten responses from her. Haleigh has been given a temporary reprieve by DSS and Monteiro says that DSS won't pull her tube - for now. This case is somewhat similar to the Terri Schiavo case, but much more complicated. You can read more about it here in Michelle Malkin's post titled "Blogging for Haleigh". But I just don't understand why some applaud pulling a feeding tube from a living human being - regardless of her or his condition. And why do many of the same people plead for mercy for a murderer about to be executed, while approve the taking of innocent life? Michelle Malkin's comments in her post titled "Haleigh Wants to Live" put it best: "When the state condemns a convicted murderer to die, Hollywood celebrities trip all over themselves to protest. Where are the Tinseltown activists who will rally to protect a truly innocent life?" God help little Haleigh Poutre. Dan blogs at Getting Elected Blogline.
