Justice Alice Robie Resnick

Who didn't see this one coming?

Remember Alice Robie Resnick, the Ohio Supreme Court Justice who got nabbed for DWI, refused the breathalyzer (which was SUPPOSED to result in a mandatory one year license suspension), and tried to bully her way out of being arrested by using her position?

After getting her little slap on the wrist, Justice Resnick said she was going to put this entire matter behind her and get back to doing the important job of a Supreme Court Justice.

Her third six year term on the Ohio Supreme Court is up at the end of this year. After her wrist slapping, she said she hadn't yet decided whether she was going to run for a fourth (and final) term. She announced her decision Saturday.

Resnick, 66, whose term expires at the end of this year, said in a statement she is confident she could win re-election but wants to spend more time with family and friends.

"I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to play a part in deciding a great many issues concerning Ohioans," she said in the statement. "I will miss the daily challenges of the position."

Confident? All her opponent would have had to do is run a commercial showing the tape of her arrest for DWI. He wouldn't have to say a word, just run the footage and paste a "do you really want this woman to stay on the Ohio Supreme Court?" message at the end. [Dayton Daily News. ]
