It is becoming increasingly clear that the present global wars are not being waged with WMD or any other kind. Rather those who control energy -- whether it be oil (Hugo Chavez to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad) can more or less stick it in the eye of the major Western powers -- Europe and the U.S. -- along with Vlad Putin with all that Russian natural gas as well:

I wonder how long it will take the Bush-backing cabal to realize that missile defense has gone out and energy conservation -- warm woolies and all -- is the latest in defense modes. I happened to hear a brief report of a drastic drop in the Japanese markets yesterday which I assumed meant a beginning of an energy panic. And the U.S., European, and other energy-squeezed nations' stocks don't look so red hot at the moment of writing.

They say that we have three ways to approach the Iranian situation -- diplomacy, sanctions, military. I wonder which of these the Iranians will use on us? Does look as though we don't have much play with any of them ourselves. It's this war, stupid -- not the last one!
