Home Alone III

Here's a real Springer story for you

Twenty four year old Shannon Cook of Westmont, Illinois, really wanted to be on the Jerry Springer show. Problem was, she had no one to watch her kids while she went to the taping.

So, she left them home alone for the nine hours that she was gone. The children, who are now in foster homes, are aged 3½, 2 and less than 1. She's been sentenced to 30 days in jail after pleading guilty earlier this week to three misdemeanor counts of endangering the life of a child because of no adult supervision. She was ordered to surrender to begin serving her jail sentence February 10. DuPage County Judge Daniel Guerin also placed Cook on one year of probation and ordered her to pay $525 in fees and fines.
A woman called Westmont police the evening of Oct. 19 to report unsupervised children in [sic] of her neighbors' apartments. Officers stayed with the children and arrested their mother when she came home with her boyfriend shortly before 1 a.m. the following morning.

Cook initially told officers she had left the youngsters with a babysitter but later recanted that account, court records showed. The woman also told investigators she thought she would return earlier, according to police reports.
I'm divided between saying I hope she doesn't get her kids back and saying that I hope she's learned a lesson and when she gets them back she'll never place them in this kind of danger again.

I wonder if the Springer folks will tape a follow-up? This has got to be the icing on whatever she originally went to the show to tape. [1]
