Most of us know Steve Irwin, the Crocodile Hunter, as a gregarious TV show star. And those of us who had kids who watched him and learned about reptiles from his show know the value of his enthusiastic teaching. But did you know the Irwin was involved in scientific research? Croc hunter Steve Irwin’s last [...]

Soon the U.S. Supreme court will hear a case that will determine the constitutionality of requiring a government-issued photo ID to vote. The case they will hear was brought by the Democratic party in Indiana. Indiana, it seems has the strictest voter-ID laws in the country and the Democratic party is claiming that requiring a [...]

Duncan Hunter has the right idea. Nothing less than cutting all federal aid and funding from Columbia University. We must send a message to the radical anti-American left.  Here’s Hunters press release from Saturday 9/22/07: “To host the leader of Iran when he supports terrorists that are moving deadly roadside bombs across the Iraqi border [...]

Who can pass up as tempting a news canapé as Iran’s beady-eyed slip of a President announcing “We Don’t Have Homosexuals Like In Your Country”? Okay, maybe one or three bloggers out of a zillion wouldn’t be tempted, but that wouldn’t be me on a Tuesday in paradise, especially when this bit of banal blather [...]

From the opening beats of the first track, “In the Dressing Room”, the soundtrack for Broken English plays out like a melancholy love ode. With the majority of the tracks created by the Parisian duo Scratch Massive, there’s no shortage of electronic rock/trance sounds. Making full use of the keyboard and all of its robotic sound effects, [...]

The latest Zogby poll shows that only 11 percent of Americans approve of the job Congress is doing. This is contrasted with Bush’s underwhelming 29% approval rating. These polls show that Americans of all political stripes are losing faith in their government. Congress’ all time low (prior to this poll) is 18% approval. Do we [...]

Short story: I think the Bush administration might switch from the Shi’ite’s side to the Sunni’s side in Iraq and in the Middle East region. Before I start, a few things to keep in mind: Iran = Shi’ite Iraq’s Government = Shi’ite Saudi Arabia = Sunni bin-Laden and Al Qaeda = Sunni al-Anbar province = [...]

Or so he would have us believe. The less than charismatic Iranian leader was given the opportunity to address the UN this afternoon. All I can say is that the UN is getting pretty lax in who they invite, at this rate they will be listening to Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton next! Or any [...]

Kawaipunahele, a chart-topping album Hawaiian musician Keali`i Reichel originally recorded for friends, was released in 1994. But Kawaipunahele is truly timeless; its content and importance in promoting Hawaiian tradition is every bit as relevant today. Now, on the eve of the release of his concert HD-DVD (KUKAHI – Keali`i Reichel Live In Concert, due October [...]

The Incredible String Band were an anathema when they started life in the 70’s and they are just as unfathomable today. Live At The Lowry was recorded in 2003, and is quintessential of their style. I guess most people would put them in the ‘Folk’ genre, and indeed they are, where they differ from the [...]

Philosophy books tend to be large tomes of incomprehensible concepts, no doubt designed this way to limit readership to those already involved in this ethereal endeavor at the academic level. Very occasionally a book comes along that breaks out from the norm, in 1971 R. D. Lang published his ground breaking work Knots, a Book [...]

A columnist from a Chicago suburban paper has equated smoking to abortion in order to explain away her support of an abortion mill struggling to open in Aurora, Illinois. Saying that since smoking is legal, and it “kills†people, why shouldn’t abortion be legal, we find her reasoning is strained and absurd. If there’s a [...]
