With such a blunt title and an unambiguous Sin City-esque cover, it’s not particularly hard to guess what the central focus of City of Violence, the new Dragon Dynasty release, might be. Hint: it’s not about pacifism. Writer, director, producer, and star Seung-wan Ryoo was interested in exploring the action genre and that’s exactly what he’s done here. And with […]

Save a miracle come from behind in Iowa. Even the candidate admits he will become the first also ran. If the Republic ever needed an old fashioned balls to the wall democratic president it would be now. The Senator from Delaware is an old school politician which is why he wouldn’t even make the veep short list. I have debatable […]

“Not so†says the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (AKA The Mormons). In a short press release issued today the Mormons are obviously trying to distance themselves from the firestorm that the Warren Jeffs trial is going to create. Jeffs faces trial next week on ‘statutory rape’ charges, for his alleged assignations […]

2008 Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich released a statement today praising the ruling by U.S. District Judge Victor Marrero that overturned a key provision of the Patriot Act. Marrero wrote that the provisions of the Patriot Act relating to the use of National Security Letters (NSL) sent to telephone companies and internet service providers ordering them to turn over records about customers are, “the legislative equivalent of breaking and entering, with an ominous free pass to the hijacking of constitutional values.â€

Last year, a five percent increase in tuition for all of Florida’s […]

The suicide rate among young Americans ages 10 to 24 increased significantly in 2004 for the first time in ten years, a reaction many prominent mental health professionals blame on the ‘black box’ rule enforced by the FDA beginning that same year. The ‘Black box’ rule requires that antidepressant medications, a common treatment for depression […]

Three recent biographies on Hillary Rodham Clinton, each by widely separated and totally diverse authors, have come to the same conclusion: Hillary has a terrible temper, holds long-lasting grudges, and has a fragile emotional state that can be traced to her childhood. The question these biographical accounts pose is: how will these flaws affect the […]

Many of us here, of course, take it for granted that the news media focuses far more on any scandals or troubles that occur with Republicans while at the same time they try their level best to ignore those that are perpetrated by Democrats. Sometimes that claim is open to interpretation, sometimes it seems too […]

NEW YORK, September 6, 2007–Abe Foxman’s limo circled the 92nd Street Y warily a couple of times to give him a chance to survey the scene across the street. Reviewing and/or taking on the role as a critic of a self-published book such as The Roaring Lion and Wedding Bells – In the Heart of Tigers and Leopards by Azaria J. C. Mbatha is indeed a very serious thing. As reviewer and author I am expected to play with open cards and hopefully do […]

German Metal has always been something I have admired, Henckel Knives are without doubt the finest cutting instruments known to man! Paradox takes us to a different kind of German Metal, cutting edge like a Henckel, but musical rather than something found in the kitchen! Heresy is their follow up album to Product Of Imagination, […]

Let’s say you live in the socialist, pacifist, nanny state paradise of Norway and you decide for some inexplicable reason that you want to commit a decidedly antisocial act like rape and/or murder. What sort of deterrents are in place — beyond the inherent utopian living conditions — that might change your mind about such […]

[I personally have had it with generals’ predictions of the success or failure of our efforts in Iraq. The one thing I had drilled into my head during my stint in the NROTC as an undergrad was that generals are always fighting the LAST war. The Maginot Line constructed after WW1 to block any future […]

This is a band that has a long and industrious background. Let’s face it, if you played Woodstock, you were someone! Re-released this year, this is a must have CD. The first time I took it out for a spin I was using Windows Media Player, and I was in shock and horror, it sounded […]

The BBC poll tells us solemnly that the majority of people in the world want the US to leave Iraq. Well, duh. The problem? A lot of statistical problems, to begin with. The first problem is the data base. You can measure all the “opinions” you want to, but what you are measuring is what […]
