The lastest hot video on YouTube is not the boring presidential “Debates” but the one found HERE. It is 1,500 Philippine men (and one “lady”) from the Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center dancing and miming to MIchael Jackson’s Thriller. Their video has been mentioned on Cleveland’s the Afternoon Buzz and the Shanghailist. The Daily [...]

Overall, this wasn’t a bad debate. It was a little too gimmicky, and CNN did pick questions that were more for entertainment value than informative. Each of the candidates’ performances was much better for the most part.

When I was in private practice, I tended to see a lot of women. And my nurses used to laugh that when I would do a Pap smear (usual appointment time 20 minutes) I would often end up in the office an hour with a crying lady. Yup. Another middle aged lady going through menopause. [...]

This press release was too good not to share with you all, it sums up life on the road, and the bad stuff that can happen. Anyone that thinks that being in a band is glamorous should read this one. Late Friday night while driving to Calgary the members in National Product totaled their van. [...]

Didn’t catch the first part of it, but here are some thoughts (paraphrasing from memory throughout; transcript is being updated here): –Joe Biden made an incredibly insulting comment about the mentally ill. A YouTube questioner asked the candidates what they’d do to protect his “babies,” held up a huge gun and said “this is my [...]

After half a century of trying to come out of religious seclusion, Roman Catholicism has suffered a setback. The founder of Domino’s Pizza has accumulated more money than he can manage wisely. Instead of handling his philanthropy well like the Bill Gates family or Warren Buffet, he is constructing his own community of [...]

There are a couple of blog posts here and here which give details of a recent Leftist attempt — mainly on Daily Kos — to smear the U.S. Army as psychopathic killers. The article concerned relies entirely on anecdote and therefore has no scholarly worth whatever. It picks out a set of criminals and says: [...]

Nobody was a bigger Michael Vick fan than me. Ask anybody. To me, he was the most magical player I had ever seen. The way he ran, the unpredictability of his moves, how he could make three guys miss him in a row. Mike Vick was a football God.  I knew he had his problems [...]

Mal sehen (we’ll see). How come I’ve never stumbled across a history of the Berlin Wall before? And why on earth am I asking you? Anyway, I may have found one now, although I’ve still got to find somebody who is willing to shell out the $27 for the damned thing (won’t be easy in my [...]

The latest Rasmussen Reports 2008 Democratic primary poll update released today finds that little has changed in this race. Even though the Democratic candidates will be debating again tonight, it seems that the previous debates have had little impact on this race.

News Item: Pennsylvania officials concerned about migration from New Jersey It’s no secret that people are being priced out of New Jersey, where property taxes can equal or exceed your mortgage payment, and it’s not just the perenially poor who are feeling the pinch, but also those who used to think they were middle class. Any time I read anything having to do with mishaps involving snorkelers or divers, my interest is piqued. I’m a certified diver and have had a few little “incidents†of my own. Recently, I read about an attorney from Toledo, Ohio, who is now recuperating, grateful he still has a leg after fighting off a [...]

[Given the lack of jobs for so many in our society, it is time that we found better ways to cope with those convicted with drug offenses. While we are at it our mentally ill (16% of our prisoners) with the closure of our mental hospitals are often those so convicted. If any saw the [...]

American Catholics need to become more public in their expressions of faith. It was recently reported in the secular press that in some publicly funded colleges funds are being allocated for “foot-washing” stations to accommodate Islamic students’ need to ritual ablution before prayers. Well, Catholics wake up and start demanding Holy Water Fonts for the [...]

I’ve read a lot about street gangs, who used to finance themselves by selling drugs, moving into the financial crimes arena. Some say financial crimes are a lot more profitable, and the punishment for getting caught seems to be a lot less harsh.  Looks like some of them have gone West (Hawaii) to enjoy a little [...]

When it comes to the inhumane treatment of animals, the charges can sometimes be a bit silly. For instance, Al Gore was recently castigated by the Humane Society International for serving Chilean sea bass, one of the world’s most threatened fish species, at his daughter’s wedding. The AP will use just about any excuse to say that the USA isn’t what it used to be, or what it should be. Yes, they will use any excuse to tear down this great country. Today’s example is predicated on the dodgy research of another America bashing “economist” who is saying Americans are too [...]
