General Petraeus’ coming testimony before Congress regarding the status of military operations in Iraq has inspired the Lefties to feats of classless jackassery beyond which anyone believed them capable. (Well, on second thought, it’s quite believable.)
The group A.N.S.W.E.R. (Act Now to Stop War & End Racism) has planned a “Die-In” for September 15 in Washington D.C. to protest the war in Iraq. Nothing new here. Lefty drama queens are pretending to die all the time, it’s just that no one much cares to notice. This particular “Die-in”, however, goes a bit further.
From The Weekly Standard:
“Meanwhile, a motley crew of antiwar groups, including Iraq Veterans Against The War, CODEPINK, ANSWER, and MoveOn.org, are organizing a week of demonstrations in Washington beginning September 15. The “mobilization” will be kicked off with a “Die-In,” sponsored primarily by ANSWER and Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW).
As they explain, “IVAW is asking that participants in the Die-In/Funeral select the name of one of the almost 4,000 soldiers who have been killed in Iraq. You can select a family member, friend or someone from your city, town or state. Please bring a photograph of that person and a sign with his/her name on September 15.”
Needless to say, the protesters who will be appropriating the names of soldiers and Marines killed in action have no intention of asking the permission of their families. But why should the families think their loved ones’ sacrifices are being exploited in an unbelievably offensive way? After all, as one organizer explains, “The die-in will be led by an Honor Guard of Iraq Veterans Against the War who will simulate a 21-Gun Salute before taps is played to initiate the die-in.”
In an effort to give voice to families who have lost husbands, brothers, fathers, sons, wives, sisters, mothers, daughters in Iraq and would prefer not to have their names dragged through the politico-sludge, the group Families United For Our Troops and Their Mission is working to counter the “Die-In” message.
“The last thing we wish to do is to cause controversy at the event - because that is what they want and that gets them media attention,” says a spokeswoman for Families United. “However, we do wish to take a stand in a positive way. The Gold Star families who will be in D.C. for the GOE rally, will be meeting and voicing our support of the troops. We will ask for equal media time. In addition, we would like to take with us signed letters from Gold Star families demanding that A.N.S.W.E.R and their affiliates no longer misuse our heroes and clearly stating that they do not have the ‘right’ to use our hero’s names and we protect that right as the heir of our hero.”
The group has composed a form letter, addressed to the Chairman (chairperson?) of ANSWER demanding that they not use the names and images of loved ones in this way. The letter features blank spaces where families can fill in the particulars of the loved one they wish not to be dishonored.
To think that anyone, let alone those whose family members have sacrificed their lives for the freedom of others, should have to go through such gyrations to extract the most basic degree of human decency out of their fellow country men is truly mind-boggling, if not nauseating.
But the Lefties must have their theater, no matter how much it costs the rest of us.
To that point, one wonders from time to time (if not constantly) what sort of person could believe acts such as these to be noble, enlightened, caring, and necessary as the Lefties most surely do? Greg Gutfeld, of FOX’s Red Eye with Greg Gutfeld, has composed a brilliant expose on Left Chic and its de rigueur mindset, uniform, attitude et al for The American Spectator magazine. “Think globally. Screw everybody locally” is an excerpt which neatly summarizes his thesis. Unfortunately Mr. Gutfeld’s column is not presently available online. A splendid dramatic reading and analysis of it, however, was performed yesterday by Mark Belling - one of talk radios brighter stars - whom you may have heard filling in for Mr. Limbaugh now and again.
Following are links to Mr. Belling’s segment on the article and the larger issue of utter classlessness among the Left. The discussion begins about one minute in on part 1 - Mark Belling part 1 – and a few seconds into the beginning of part 2 - Mark Belling part 2 .
Enjoy!
Cheers,

Follow-up comment rss or Leave a TrackbackFirst things first, I am a registered Republican. Secondly, I am sick and tired of my party marching to the neocon agenda. I want my conservative party back. You are obviously a neo-con and wouldn’t know what a conservative agenda was if it bite you were the good Lord split you.
How dare you accuse people who oppose the very un-conservative imperial occupation of being Lefties inspired to feats of classless jackassery. How dare you sir? How dare you back these neocons in their endeavor to ruin America economically and diplomatically?
Conservatives, Republicans, friends, we must take back our party from these fiscally irresponsible fools whom call themselves neocons. Neocons should just drop the neo, because they done nothing but con our once proud party into laying waste to our once great country. Being a Conservative means standing up for our Constitutional freedoms. Be they our right to bear arms, or our right to assembly. Being a Republican means standing up against the expansion of government and fiscal irresponsibility. Let our Republican Senators and Representatives know that we are mad and we are not going to take their lies anymore. We demand that they remember we are conservatives and we demand they start voting conservatively. Stop the wasteful war. Oppose the neocon agenda.
Splendid. Any thoughts on the misuse of dead soldiers names then Mr. Weaver?
Cheers,
Charlie
P.S. The American Spectator has now posted the Gutfeld article re: Lefties being cretins. See it at http://www.spectator.org/dsp_article.asp?art_id=11923
Bush is a war criminal. He should be hung, tried, and shot. In that order. You can decide, he’s either evil or incompentent. Or both. If you don’t believe he is a war criminal then you haven’t read the constitution. In the Constitution it clearly states: ANY TREATY SIGNED BY THE PRESIDENT AND RATIFIED BY THE SENATE IS THE LAW OF THE LAND. They also refer to the constitution as the Law of the Land. Any violations of the ratified signed treaties is therefore a violation of international law and American Constitutional Law. Preemptive wars are considered war crimes by many treaties signed by the President and ratified by the Senate.
As a citizens of the United States of America we must stand up and denounce this illegal war. We must hang and kill Bush. He has set prescedents that are violations of law, and if he is not punished for it then they will be used by future Presidents. I wonder how loud you would cry if we tried to take your guns away for “National Security.” If Bush prescedents stay then a future liberal President would have the ability to take your guns and call those who don’t turn them over terrorist. You say that’s a violation of the constitution? Well, under prescedents set under the BUSH II administration it’s been determined that the Unitary Executive gives us that right.
Those names of the poor idiots who fought Bush’s illegal war. Well, first they are war criminals for participating in an illegal war. It is a violation of war crimes law to accept illegal orders. Every soilder not refusing to serve in Iraq is committing a war crime. Since when did war criminals (coerced or otherwise) have the right to care how their name is used? Bush killed those boys, just as we will kill him and all conservatives that believe in the fascist Unitary Executive. We will use Bush’s violations of the constitution to justify killing and jailing you, just as he has us. Then we will restore our civil liberties. It’s beautiful. The weather is working against you. We are going to pull out of Iraq in disgrace. The dollar is going to drop and be worth nothing. Bush has done a great job. How you’re proud fags.
Dear Readers,
Above we have two examples of how rapid Bushsteria can effect those on the Right as severely and tragically as those on the Left. Mr. Weaver’s (assuming these are both from Mr. Weaver)concern for the Constitution, fiscal accountability, and limited government mark him an authentic Conservative. His buying into the “Preemptive War” storyline, however, reveal that he has succumbed to the horror that is Bushsteria and is suffering from a rather advanced case.
Mr. Weaver (and all those who agree with him)for the 12,987th time, the American invasion of Iraq in 2003 was not the initiation of a “preemptive war.” It was the enforcement of U.N. Resolution 1441, itself a reiteration of several previous U.N. Resolutions dating back to the cessation of hostilities of the first Gulf War demanding that Sadaam comply with the conditions of the ceasefire that brought that war to an “end”. As you may recall, Sadaam complied with exactly none of those resolutions until Mr. Bush saw to it that this game came to an end with the enforcement of 1441. This was prudent, responsible, and correct. Afterall, beyond all other duties, the Constitution charges the President of the United States to protect and defend that Constitution and the nation it guides.
My proud fags not Mr. Weaver. Yours?
Cheers,
Charlie
