Dick Morris, former Clinton adviser, just did a “flip-flop” on the upcoming election. No too long ago he was predicting that the Dems would take back the Congress.
Now he says the election is tightening and rates the race as a “toss up”. Read Morris’s article in the New York Post titled “‘06 ELEX: BACK TO TOSS-UP” here.
Why the change?
Morris says the GOP base, although unhappy about the Foley scandal and the poor performance of Congress, is returning to the Republican fold because of the greater evil they see in the Dems taking control.
For example, the Republican base fears that the Dems would repeal the Patriot Act, stop the NSA wiretapping program and change the law to require that a lawyer be present when terrorists are questioned.
I would add to the list, the fear of Nancy Pelosi and Dick Schumer leading Congress and the Dems raising taxes led by Charlie Rangell.
My thoughts? The Dems will keep on being Dems and self-destruct in the next two weeks.
